Work Experience

Preparing Students for Successful Futures

Work experience is a key component of the Orleans Park School Careers Programme and forms an important part of our commitment to preparing students for successful futures. Through meaningful experiences in the workplace, students develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to make informed decisions about their next steps and to thrive in education, employment and training.

Why Work Experience Matters

At Orleans Park School, we believe that every student should have access to ambitious opportunities that broaden horizons, raise aspirations and develop confidence. Work experience enables students to gain valuable insight into the world of work, helping them to understand how their learning connects to future careers and pathways. By engaging directly with employers, students develop essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, resilience and professional conduct, while gaining a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them.

Our Work Experience Programme

All students participate in a structured work experience programme in Year 10 and Year 12. To support the programme, we use Unifrog, which enables students to research and secure placements, complete preparation activities and reflect on their experiences. The platform also allows the school to monitor engagement, support students throughout the process and ensure placements are suitable, safe and meaningful. Alongside this, students study a scheme of work in PSHE to further prepare them for their work experience placement.

Equality of Opportunity

We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all students and recognise the importance of removing barriers to participation. Particular support is provided for disadvantaged students and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to ensure that they can access high-quality placements and benefit fully from the experience. Through personalised guidance, targeted support and close collaboration with families, employers and external partners, we ensure that all students are able to participate, develop their career readiness and progress towards ambitious destinations.

Our Commitment

We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all students and recognise the importance of removing barriers to participation.

Building Confidence for the Future

Work experience plays a significant role in students' personal development, helping them to become confident, independent and well-prepared young people who understand the opportunities available to them and are ready to take their next steps with confidence.
