Cucina's aim is to provide all students with an exceptional catering experience.
The Executive Chef and catering team serve exciting menus packed with healthy ingredients, that are full of variety, and with loads of interesting new things to try. All dishes are prepared every day using quality, fresh and seasonal ingredients that are responsibly sourced.
Lunch breaks are staggered and are 35 minutes, with Years 7-9 having their lunch at 12.20pm and Years 10-13 having their lunch at 1:20pm. Cooked meals and snacks are available from the school canteen and The Cube at lunchtime. Morning break at 11am is 20 minutes long, where snacks are also available to buy. Sixth Form students have their own Sixth Form Cafe based in the Attenborough Building, where they can purchase food from 8:30am to 2pm. There is also a new breakfast service between 8 and 8.30am in the canteen.
Students are expected to remain on site at lunchtime (except Sixth Form students). Drinks in glass bottles should not be brought to school for health & safety reasons.

Cucina would like to ensure that all students have access to a healthy nutritious meal and, with this in mind, anyone with a free school meal allowance can select any two items at any price. This should include a hot main meal, pizza, salad box, panini or other nutritious snack plus either a hot pudding, fruit pot or freshly-made cake. If they prefer they can also choose to switch the pudding for a drink. Any two items purchased will be covered by the free school meal allowance.
Students eligible for free school meals automatically have their student card credited each day, and they can use this allowance at lunchtime to purchase any two items. The system is “invisible”, so students are not aware who is claiming a free school meal. Parents can top up these accounts via Parent Pay if they want their child to be able to spend more than the free school meal allowance or to make purchases at times other than lunchtime.
If your child is currently in receipt of free school meals, or you think that your child is entitled to them, you must fill out an application form. Please visit the free school meals section of the school website for full details of how to check eligibility and also apply.

The Food Information Amendment, also known as Natasha’s Law, came into effect from 1 October 2021. It places a responsibility on all food businesses to provide a full list of ingredients and allergen labelling on all food pre-packed for direct sale. Please read the below document which advises families of Cucina's commitment to be fully compliant with this new law.
