In our Sixth Form, we have support systems to help you do your best in your studies and grow into confident, ambitious young adults. One of these is the 16–19 Bursary, a fund that can provide financial help if you need support with things like travel, books, equipment, or other costs linked to your learning.
The 16-19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome specific financial barriers so that they can remain in education. The fund comes from the Government and is held by ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency). There are two types of bursaries:
This can award a maximum of £1,200 per year.
Students can receive contributions towards essential books/resources, UCAS fees, travel costs, residential/educational trips (if essential to their studies), University Open Days, or any other costs that you would otherwise need to pay for, in order to participate in sixth form education. This now also includes emergency food supplies. The amount awarded is dependable on the funding the school receives from ESFA, and is usually paid ‘in kind’ – such as by purchasing the required books, equipment or transport pass for the student.
To get the bursary, you will need to meet certain criteria set by the Government. Below you will find our guidelines along with the application form.
If you would like to find out more or have any questions, you can talk to our Sixth Form Administrator, Ralu Ionescu, either in person or by emailing rionescu@orleanspark.school
