Course Specification

What will you study?:

Pure Maths

• Complex numbers
• Matrices
• Further functions (including hyperbolic functions)
• Further calculus
• Polar Co-ordinates

What skills will you develop?

The new A level ready to begin in 2017 will focus on three main areas of mathematical understanding:

• Mathematical reasoning
• Mathematical modelling
• Mathematical Proof

How will you be assessed?

There are four exams at the end of Year 13:

• Two papers which focus on the pure mathematics
• Two which focus on one of four options (Pure, Mechanics, Statistics, Decision)

Each Paper is 1 hour and 30 minutes long.

Each paper is worth 25% of your final mark.
