  • Students should choose three subjects from separate blocks plus a reserve
  • Further Mathematics can only be studied alongside Mathematics and will normally be a fourth subject

  • *Subjects marked with an * will only run if enough students choose them

Entry Requirements

The minimum academic entrance requirement for the sixth form is six grade 9 - 4 GCSEs with at least three subjects at grade 6 including English and Mathematics at grade 4 or higher. Most students will study three A Level subjects over two years. 

  • We accept GCSE qualifications. Students may substitute one of the grade 6 GCSEs for a Level 2 BTEC or OCR National or equivalent award at Distinction/Distinction* 
  • We strongly advise that students have at least a GCSE Grade 6 in the subjects they will study at A Level 
  • Some subjects can be taken at A Level without having studied them at GCSE

Mathematics GCSE Mathematics Grade 7
Further Mathematics A Level Mathematics and GCSE Mathematics Grade 8 or higher 

Biology

  • GCSE Biology Grade 6 plus one other Science Grade 6, or GCSE Science Grades 6-6. All from the higher tier.
  • GCSE Mathematics Grade 5

Chemistry

  • GCSE Chemistry Grade 6 plus one other Science Grade 6, or GCSE Science Grades 6-6. All from the higher tier.
  • + GCSE Mathematics Grade 5

Physics

  • GCSE Physics Grade 6 plus one other Science Grade 6, or GCSE Science Grades 6-6. All from the higher tier.
  • Students must also study A Level Mathematics
Computer Science GCSE Grade 6 in Computing (if studied) and GCSE Grade 6 in Mathematics
English Literature GCSE English Literature Grade 6 or English Language Grade 6
Economics GCSE Grade 5 in Mathematics and English
French GCSE French Grade 6
German GCSE German Grade 6
Spanish GCSE Spanish Grade 6
Music GCSE Music Grade 6
Psychology GCSE Grade 5 in English, Mathematics and Science
All other A Level Subjects GCSE Grade 5 in English (Highly Recommended)
