Component 2: Text in Performance (9DR0/02)A group performance of one key extract from a performance text. A monologue or duologue performance from one key extract from a different performance text. Both include a brief written explanation of your role (how you developed your characterisation skills) |

Component 3: Theatre Makers in Practice (9DR0/03)Live Theatre Evaluation Practical exploration and study of a complete performance text – focusing on how this can be realised for performance. Practical exploration and interpretation of another complete performance text, in light of a chosen theatre practitioner – focusing on how this text could be reimagined for a contemporary audience. Practitioner must be different to Component 1

Written examination: 2 hours 30 minutes Section A: Live Theatre Evaluation (20 marks) Analyse and evaluate a live theatre performance students have seen from a choice of two questions. Section B: Page to Stage: Realising a Performance Text (36 marks) Students answer from the perspective of a performer and a designer. Section C: Interpreting a Performance Text (24 marks) Student’s directorial concept -based on Dr Faustus - is compared to its original performance conditions. From a director’s point of view, demonstrate how your directorial concept will communicate ideas to a contemporary audience.

What skills will you develop?
In addition to the performance, design and directing skills, students will be learning and building upon the following skills:
