The Pupil Premium Grant was designed by the Government to help disadvantaged children and young people succeed at school. The funding is allocated to schools for students from Reception to Year 11 under three criteria:
Free School Meals - The school gets £1050 for every pupil in Year 7-11 who claims free school meals, or who has claimed free school meals in the last 6 years.
Looked After and Previously Looked After Children - Schools get £2,570 for every pupil who has left local authority care through adoption, a special guardianship order or child arrangements order.
Service Premium - Schools get £340 for every pupil with a parent who is serving in HM Forces or who has retired on a pension from the Ministry of Defence. This funding is to help with pastoral support.
At Orleans Park we recognise that not all students who are eligible for free school meals are disadvantaged, and not all students who are disadvantaged or vulnerable are eligible or registered for free school meals. Therefore, we allocate the Pupil Premium Grant to support any student or groups of students who are vulnerable, or identified as a priority by the school’s pastoral monitoring systems.
