What will I study?

  • Unit one: British component. British Empire, 1857-1967
  • Unit two: A study of another country. Revolution and dictatorship 1917-1953

  •  Tudor Rebellions

What skills will I develop?

By the end of the course students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of both units studied. This will include:

  • Key events and individuals
  • The role and interplay of key economic, social, political and international factors in shaping the past
  • Analysis and evaluation of primary material
  • Analysis and judgment of secondary material and historical interpretations

How will I be assessed?

Students sit two exams at the end of Year 13, with each exam focusing on a different component.

These exams will take the form of externally assessed written papers lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes.

In each exam students are required to answer 3 questions. Students will also have to complete a non-exam assessment (NEA) worth 20% of their overall grade. This is based on individual research and an essay of around 3,000-3,500 words.
